I am installing SME V5 on an Intel D815EEA motherboard, with a 3Ware 6410 RAID controller and 2 x IBM 40GB Hard Drives in RAID 1 Array.
I note on the 3Ware site a warning about using this motherboard, as there is some IRQ problems. I have installed the latest Intel BIOS for this board, and so far no problems. The 3Ware controller worked straight out of the box, and instructions were very easy to follow. Also worth noting, 3Ware have discontinued the manufacture of the 3Ware Escalade IDE RAID controllers.
I downloaded the latest firmware, drivers & monitoring software. The firmware updated no problem, but the latest driver gives me an error message. I note that it is designated for RH7.1 My question: Is SME V5 based on RH7.0 or RH7.1 ?
It appears if I leave the default driver as included in SME V5, everything works OK. For this reason, I assume I should use the supplied version of 3DM (monitoring software), and not the latest version I downloaded. Any suggestions ?
