DHCP Problem after upgrade?
« on: November 13, 2001, 02:59:08 AM »
Hello All,
I just finished the upgrade from 4.12 to 5.0 and things are working well excpet for two instances. I have two computers that don't seem to be getting IP's assigend from the server. All the other computers connect without a problem and I can't find anything "strange" with the setup of the two computers that are having problems. I can switch them over to a static ip and they connect fine, but for some reason not using dhcp.
Both computers showed their ip's as being 169.254.20.161. My dhcp lease range is 192.168.0.1 => 100. Both computers show the dhcp server as being 255.255.255.255 and the subnet as being 255.255.0.0, which are both wrong. Both machines have leases on the server for valid ip's. When I terminate the leases on the server for these machines they aren't given new ones.
 Any ideas?

Thanks,
 Arkman

No ideas.... except that I had *exactly* the same problem after I upgraded.

I had a couple of other problems too, which forced me to do a fresh install instead of an upgrade. All was fine after I did that.

Sorry if that's not what you want to hear!

I'll pile on here too --- same boat:  after upgrade, some machines can get leases, some cannot.  It's looking like a bug in the upgrade.
