ibay on standalone server
« on: January 20, 2001, 02:28:29 AM »
I just setup a e-smith box beta3 in standalone mode. we are running a NT 4.0 server network and would like to use the e-smith box for a web server. I created an Ibay lets call it drivers. I want to restrict access to that ibay to a group called admins. when I try to access the ibay from the web page , I'll call it e-smith-server/drivers it prompts me for a password, which it should, but the users that I have assigned to that group for the ibay can not get in. are there other settings that I need to change in a mixed nt enviornment. In the e-smith manager I have it set to write=group read=group and local network password required. I tend to think that it is a password issue, either encrypting or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the username you use to log in to an Ibay is the same name as the ibay, not the users names, and then you use the password you set when you created the ibay.

Thanks I was wondering why you set a password on the ibay itself.  I will have to send a message to have them update the manual..  I will try that tomorrow.

thanks a bucnch..

Can this be changed or modified to allow a user to login to an Ibay with their username and password?  If so, how would I do that?

That would stop the users logging in as themselves via FTP. The current system
allows users to modify all i-bays over which they have rights.

Discussion about modifications belong in the Experienced Users Forum or,
even better, the devinfo mailing list.
