FTP individual accounts

Is there a way for users to ftp in with individual accounts from the internet?

I can ftp as admin but not individuals. or I can ftp as individual only from local network.

I am setting up websites and need to delegate differant sites out without one admin accessing others accounts.

First you need to make sure that you have ftp access enabled for external clients, "from outside your local network".  Go into the "e-smith-manager" under remote make sure FTP user access is set to Public.

Next go into the properties for the Ibay, there should be a group that has been assigned to this ibay.  If it just says "Administrator" you have not created a group that is associated with the ibay.  I have a feeling this is your problem.  Next you want to create a group, add your users to that group.  Then in your ibay properties change the group from "Administrator" to "the group you just created".

Then of course you need to modify the settings on the Ibay page that will allow you write access for the group, etc, etc.

  I hope this helps out.

I had a very difficult time setting up a "typical" ftp account on my SME server using Ibays.  If I remember correctly, the users logged in to the ibay in such a way that they had access to the files, html and cgi directories.

What I really wanted was to be able to send a given user to a specific directory when they logged in (i.e., didn't want them to have to cd into a files directory).  To do this, I made a custom template fragment for the ftp deamon to take care of this.  If you are interested, email me at gzart@leiinc.com.
