Hi,

it's me Hoay Fern again.

currently we have website running which is set as primary website  and besides that I also have created virtual domain which is running now too.

now we have redesign the webpage, my question is how can I add new html file into the our virtual domain and primary website

example: i try to put profile.htm into the primary website information Bays by go to explorer, My network Places (i am using Windows 2000 Professional) then i cretae a folder under html folder of the primary website folder. then i put the profile.htm into the folder called profile .

when i go to internet and try to type the www.xxxxx.com.sg/profile/profile.htm

it said that
The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

but under the under html folder of the primary website folder (Eg: \E-smith-server\duraco_ws\html\profile, i saw the profile.htm

Maybe i didnt do it in correct way

Can you please teach me when i wish to add new html into my website the steps how can i perform it ?

i apprecaite if you willing to teach me in proper way so that i can update it easily next time if i have new updated html file into it.

thanks

are your files set to the right premissions.  Login as root and go to the directory and to a chown www.www *

Hi Hoay,

My shortcut is to use Frontpage 2000 (yeah, I know, evil empire and all that) and log onto my PC as 'admin'
NB, I use my PC as part of a domain for authentication
I can then open the primary webpage using frontpage (open web command) and create as you normally do and save straight back to the server.

Easy as.

Yeah, no worries.

I have my little setup as an NT domain, so when I log onto my PC, I log on as user adn password with mydomain.co.nz also showing up (ie, a domain rather than a workgroup-MS stuff really) but that authenticates me as a user on the domain.
Now, if I log on as admin (instead of my usual name) the e-smith thinks that, hey, that PC user IS admin and accords me rights to the e-smith box as if I was logged on directly as admin.

Anyway, long story short, log on as 'admin' with the admin password (exactly the same as for the server manager panel) and then use the 'open web' command in Front Page to open your primary web site.

Couple of things there, you may get the error 'cannot open web', if you do, just create a dummy web (new web) and then you should be able to open your original site through NETWORK NEIGHBOURHOOD->E-SMITH BOX->PRIMARY->HTML->index.htm

If you have no luck, I am passing through Singapore in a month or so so can show you then ;)

hi,

thanks for your reply

i still have some query.

you said:

is it mean that when i logoin to my Win2k PC , i have to use the admin and password to login into my win2k pc ?

currently i login into our WINNT domain. the E-Smith i set it under workgroup instead of domian.

is it works if i follow your instruction ?
