Will not find my nic cards
« on: February 03, 2001, 08:46:26 AM »
First tried this on a 486 33, Now on a brand new k6-2 233 and biostar M5VNB Mobo, with MB 64 mb ram, 2 gig HD.
Heres the problem.  Install goes great. When i get to the console it does not auto detect my nic cards.  Linksys LNE100TX (which should be supported) I manually configure them with the tulip drivers.  all goes well when i reboot.and E-Smith loads. both eth0, eth1 FAILED.  continues to boot. and no internet access. Please help.

Yes, those cards should have been detected correctly. My guess is that they
are a newer  version of the same card, and the RH6.1 drivers see them
differently (as shown by the other reply).

Did you save this manual configuration in the configuration database:

/sbin/e-smith/config set EthernetDriver1 tulip
/sbin/e-smith/config set EthernetDriver2 tulip
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save

I would be interested to know if these cards are autodetected properly
by our latest development release. See www.e-smith.org for details
if you wish to try that out.

I got it to work with realtek cards.  Looks like ver 4.0 or 4.1 of the linksys cards
(tulip) did not work with this distro, Also installed 4.1.rc3 it did not detect or let me install the tulip drivers by hand either.
