Topic: installing extra parallel port

hi can anyone help me with the installation of an extra parallel card.
it is a kouwell 220n-2 pci. their site says it is compatible etc...


any suggestions ?

I added a LPT card (ISA) recently. I found the card in a junk pile, with no documentation or driver software I finally got it working by doing the following:

In the PC's BIOS setup, I changed the IRQ and memory address of the on-board LPT1 interface to something other than the default. By trial and error I finally hit a setting that made both printer ports visable to e-smith.

The default memory address on the LPT card was set to same as the BIOS default for the onboard port. In the end, it was only the memory address setting that required modification, the IRQ stayed at the BIOS default.

Does the card have any jumpers that let you set the IRQ and Memory Address? If so, choose something that will not conflict with your other devices.

PCI LPT are really different from ISA ones.
ISA needs no driver, often you just plug it, as they come as LPT2 (0x278,5)
You should see a 2nd lpt at bios post.

PCI LPT need a driver and good luck

use a standard ISA add-on card, this is the only way I've got it working for my installed server for those people who didn't want to buy printerservers and only need 2 printers in their network or so.
I've tried with some PCI-cards but that didn't work !!
