blades on 5.12
« on: January 31, 2002, 02:11:48 PM »
When clicking on the blades option in server manager within 5.12 I get the following response:

Current list of blades

An error occurred while fetching the list of available blades
Could not receive data from blades server

Anyone know what the prob. is?

any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Craig

Craig,

It is probably one of several causes:

1/  You were not connected to the internet at the time.

2/  Your ISP was having an outage/routing/peering problem at the time

3/  The Mitel Blade server was down

I would suggest you try again

Jon, thanks for you quick response, I have tried this numerous times over the last few hours and found the problem still persists.

In response to your suggestions.
1) I have checked that the server had net access by using lynx to test.

2) Isp outage/problem?  seems unlikely as I have had no problems elsewhere.

3) Blade server down? If so it's been down for about 3 hours - unlikely.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

Ok, the Blade server is ok as I just checked it.
Can you ping 66.37.211.36 from your server. I think this is the Blade Server address.

Is your server behind a firewall? If so, I think you need to enable SSH to allow it to go through, as I think that is how it gets the Blade info. YMMV

Robert

You are correct - SME gets its blades using rsync over SSH, so port 22 needs opening on the firewall.

How weird, I could not access the blades server through a browser but via servermgr on the console it worked fine.

thanks for your suggestions.

Two bladed questions:

1. When I connect to the blades site, only a single blade (the MP3 Jukebox) shows up.  Are there more, or is that it?

2. Is there documentation on how on goes about creating a blade.  I've looked around a bit but haven't foiund it yet...

Thanks,
