Is procmail installed with the new version of e-smith?
Also has anyone thought of using MYSQL to store users e-mail? That way if you get say a virus you can just run a query against the database to find any e-mail that has the virus in it?
Oracle is touting this for their new 9i application server. I don’t see why you couldn’t do that with q-mail and MYSQL? Then you could make queries that would find certain file extensions like .vbs or .exe and have that mail transfer to another database to quarantine it.
I have used the 9i application server and this method works very well to control virus outbreaks. You just schedule the query to run before people get into work and continue through out the day and most of the time you will catch the viruses before the virus scan does.
