Multiple internet gateways

Hi,

Is it possible to do the following: -

Have two means of Internet access,  ADSL and Dial-Up.

ADSL has its own ADSL router (can be SME or otherwise), Dial-Up also has its own Router (again, SME or Otherwise).

The Main SME Server and Gateway is the only one visible to the LAN and is configured with 3 NICs, eth0 for LAN, eth1 for ADSL, eth2 for Dial-Up.

Both ADSL and Dial-Ups are dialled in and active at all times.

Can the Main SME server be set up to use one or both internet access routes at any one time and switch over if one or the other is down ? Basically, the idea is ADSL serves the day to day needs, but if it goes down for whatever reason, the Dial Up account route takes over as a backup for continued internet access (even if the current active downloads over the ADSL are lost).

Hi Kelvin,

How about using a 2nd small e-smith server and apply HA, I mean only using the fail-over functionality ?

Server 1 has ADSL (your main server) server 2 has dial-up, and  set the Virtual IP of the cluster as THE proxy.
