Topic: Phorum Pre-install Issues

Hi,

I guess forums have been discussed over and over here
particulalry the question about passwords . . .

Sorry if this is related, I did scour the forums . . .

I read this :-

http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/phorum-3.2.11/

And followed it to the letter !

Didnt go as howto though - again some connection to database issue !

Then I started trawling through forums and got very very dizzy !

After trying a couple of things including :-

----------------
mysqladmin -u root create database_name

is the command prompt you need to create the database name.
---------------

rpm -e phorum.rpm  . . . .  then rpm -Uvh phorum.rpm

and checking / pasting password in /root/.my.conf

I seem to have got my Phorum working !!!

The truth is I dont really know what I did or which particular action
or lack of prevented it working to start with !!

Should I have created the database name first before running through
the install / config OR was it indeed the password issue ?

Any info gratefully received (even if it is "Go away and read the whole MySQL manual")
