Logon expiry
« on: March 29, 2002, 12:22:27 AM »
I'm getting popup messages on my W2K workstation that my password (on a 5.1.2 server acting as a domain master, logging into the domain) will expire in 14 days. I can see no settings for password expiry, so am unclear where this is coming from. There doesn't seem to be a way to make the password not expire on the workstation side, as can be done with local userids.

Has anyone dealt with this issue?

Sounds to me like your logon is still being processed through your win2k.
Do you have Admin privy?
If not, just change your password - at your next logon AND on your server.

This has nothing to do with the server. Win2k keeps a count of the number of days since your first logon or the last time your password was set from within win2k.

If your security policy has Maximum Password Age set it will give you this prompt.

To turn it off open up your Local Security Policy MMC snapin and navigate to Secuirty Settings->Account Policies->Password Policy and set Maximum password age to 0.
