Different ibays for different hostnames

Different ibays for different hostnames

Could anyone tell me if this is possible with SME Server 5.1.2?

I have a domain xxx.com and several ibays: ibay1 and ibay2. xxx.com is set up as a virtual domain. By default the web sites on each of these ibays can be accessed from the Web as http://www.xxx.com/ibay1 and http://www.xxx.com/ibay2.

However, I would prefer the sites to be accessed using: http://ibay2.xxx.com/ and http://ibay1.xxx.com/ (I need to use root-relative links). This does not seem to be an option. I can add a host to a virtual domain but there does not seem to be an option to point different hosts to different ibays.

I'm using Zoneedit dynamic DNS, which I believe will forward sub-domains, so http://www.ibay1.xxx.com/ would be a suitable alternative, if this is possible.

Is the solution staring me in the face or is it just not possible without diving under the bonnet/lid?

Regards,

Jason

I haven't moved to 5.1.2 yet, still using 5.0 but I am able to do that
without any trouble. just add an ibay and then use the hostname
panel to add the hostname that you want. If this is going to be off a
virtual domain that you created make sure that you create the hostname
off the correct domain.
if you want ibay1.xxx.com go in and make a hostname named ibay1
and tell it to point to whatever ibay you made to store its webpages

check out section 11.5 of the manual it might be a little more clear.

Thanks Mark - that's what I wanted to hear.

There is a lot of documentation for this product, but there's something in the organisation of it that I can't get my head around. Perhaps I am used to dealing with other product setups that are much more complicated and I just don't get how easy it is!
