Topic: View Print Spool?

Is there anyway a client can view and
manage the e-smith print spool?  Also,
is there a restraint on how large the print
spool can grow?  
Does removing power from an e-smith
server mess up the filesystem or is there
a file size limitation? (I had
read somewhere that e-smith was using
an older file system and couldn't remember
what the problem was)
E-smith seems to work great so far!

Any info. will be greatly appreciated!

I figured out an admin needs to be logged in to view the print spool.  Does anyone know if jobs sent from other users will show up in the spool?  (e.g. Client1 prints doc1, client2 can see doc1 in spool?)
What I need to know now is how to remove print jobs.  I get a command error when trying to delete print jobs under Windows 2000.

Once again, any information would be greatly appreciated!

Steve,

The current SME file size limit is 2GB. Anything and everything relying on a single file can only grow to that size.

I've had mad blood rushes to the brain before about mounting external file shares on systems without this file size limitation in order to overcome it before I actually sat down and thought about it and then realised that while the external file system may be able to handle the large files, the SME server itself does not know how to access the file beyond the 2GB. DOH !

Thanks for the info.!  Do you know if the
next version of e-smith will have that
limit, and how long it will be until the
next version?  (I'm new to e-smith so
I don't know how often they release
versions)  I guess the 2GB limit won't
kill me for now.

Hi Steve,

Don't know. SME 5.1.2 was just released not very long ago, so I'd say it would be a while.

Most users (in fact most setups on the whole) won't run into the 2GB problem EXCEPT when it starts to affect proper system backups (search the forums -- there's been a fair number of posts on this problem). You ARE backing-up your system, right ? ....
