Slow printing

Like the subject says, after connecting my printer xerox 4512 (laserprinter)
it prints much slower than before. Then it was also shared within the network but connected to a windows machine. For a 200kb photo it takes about 5 mins. to print, before this was < 1 min.
Someone got any pointers where i can look ?

Ow and i get Data loss errors on my printer too.

Some more details would be nice

What version of SME are you runnning? What speed is the machine it is on compared to the other Windoze machine?

Is this printer directly connected to the parallel or USB port of the server, connected via ethernet, etc?

I would check the cable on the printer, and check the BIOS on the server for the parallel port settings. I would also check the log files from the server manager to see if anything obvious shows up.

Sme ver. 5.1.2 (latest ?) on a P1 166 24mb ram, Parallel ecp+epp, It's just a router printerserver so i think that should be enough.
5 Windows clients : compraq's (*kuch*) 133 64 mb
Printer xerox 4512 20 mb mem.
I use the same cable, so i don't expect any problems there.

It's gotten a little faster since i've changed ecp+epp ver. 1.9 to 1.7
But it still takes 5 mins. to print a 400 kb page.

A few errors in the logs, but i don't think it has anything to do with the speed problem : cannot lock db.xerox4512 - interrupted sytem call
Only occurs about once a day, and i use it all day long.
