I have a new Dell 2550 server that I purchased with a 40/80GB DLT tape drive.  Everything is working great, including the onboard raid controller.

The only exception is the speed that the backup at night.  I am only getting 549KB/s.  A different Dell server with a 20/40GB DAT drive is getting 1208KB/s.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the speed is so slow?

Here is a portion of the log that I am being emailed:

DUMP: Volume 1 completed at: Tue Apr  2 09:57:30 2002
  DUMP: Volume 1 took 7:55:55
  DUMP: Volume 1 transfer rate: 549 KB/s
  DUMP: 15681088 tape blocks (15313.56MB)
DUMP: finished in 28555 seconds, throughput 549 KBytes/sec
DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Tue Apr  2 02:00:12 2002
DUMP: Date this dump completed:  Tue Apr  2 09:57:30 2002
DUMP: Average transfer rate: 549 KB/s
  DUMP: DUMP IS DONE
Kilobytes Out 14213520

Thanks for any help

Why don't you ask Dell?  Sounds like a hardware problem.
