Sorry that you think our service bites Tom... I respect your opinion. However, I do want to clarify a few things.
We use and develop GPL software. In fact, we use AIDE to run part of the security audit. One of the chicken/egg problems with running a security audit is making sure the audit tools and internal databases have not been tampered with. This, of course, requires either a read-only medium or trusted offsite storage.
The system monitor has caught a number of problems (a disk space issue from a client copying his entire hard disk onto a share drive, upstream DOS attacks, and a few other goodies). We love contacting our clients and telling them they have a problem *before* they even know about it.
If you have the skills and the patience to build your own Big Brother server, run offsite security audits, operate 3 DNS servers, and setup MX backup... more power to you!
