Does anyone have a solution to the problem yet?
I've found out that instead of using the client's specified ports it tells the person you're trying to send to that you're sending on stupid ports like 67000 and some other ports that don't even exist.
I really need a solution here.. has anyone contacted the e-smith developers about the problem?

IRC DCC initiation and reception are working 'like a charm' on my XP box behind a stock 5.1.2 e-smith server...

Maybe there's a problem with your configuration. But this is definitively NOT an e-smith problem (e-smith server uses an helper module named ip_masq_irc to make it working, and this module is loaded when the server starts).

Only use port 6667 to connect to an IRC server. DCC send, receive and chat works like a charm over here for more than a year.

Well then the only thing I can think of is the hardware may be screwing the ports up somewhere.

The problem isn't with E-Smith itself but rather the ip masquerading.  This really has been an issue that plaqued IPmasq for quite a while, the implementation of masq_irc does not always work correct, especially for some Windows clients running mIRC.  Most clients work fine under Linux/Unix, it has been my experience that those running Windows are more prone to DCC issues.  Ensure you are loading the masq_irc module.  Another suggestion that I have seen fix this problem before was by adjusting your MIRC setup to use IDENTD in addition to changing the lookup method from "Normal" to "Server" in the mIRC options.  Chances are your DCC is failing because your local IP address is being resolved as 192.168.0.x as opposed to your external IP.  To test this, simply type "//echo $ip" in mIRC and ensure your external IP is displayed.  If it isn't, then this is your problem and the above fixes should ensure it works correctly.  Also note that clients behind a firewall may also have issues, so the problem with DCC is not always your fault :)

Hope this helped,

"changing the lookup method from "Normal" to "Server" in the mIRC options. "

i found another reply in General Forum that the solution for this is to only choose "IP Address" and "Normal". Im confused actually which is which. BUt the i tried every suggestions but none wored for me. i already tried any posible combination i can think of...

"ip address" and "normal",  "local host" and "normal", "ip address" and "server",  "local host" and "server", i even tried unchecking "local host" and "ip address" so that only "normal" and "server" are the choices but still none worked.

by the way, how do i install the irc module? coz i think my SME5.6 box dont have it. is it posible that after installing this irc module, my dcc will work?

this DCC problem is bugging me for so long. i looked everywhere but cant find the suggestion that will really work.... so any help on this will be a great help.
