Hello,

Will Counter Strike work with SME 5.1.2?

How can I get all files that are in the howto contrib?

Some sites can't access any more.

Thanks

Cincron

I host Unreal Tournament and Rune Co-Op, and Rune "Halls of Valhalla" on a RedHat 7.2 box...

Here are something to consider...

1.) SME is using a old Kernel that I have red works Great for web/mail/file serving but I dont think it is up2date enough to run Counter Strike. I know that my Loki Game's Rune and RuneHOV needs 2.4.x and XFree86 3.3.5 or newer.

2.) Is this a Linux Version of Counter Strike? Or are you going to use WINE or another emulater to try and get it to work?

3.) Without a graphical interface like KDE or GNOME, will you be trying to do multi-games or multi tasks? I have tried bare-bonez RedHat 7.2 and I personally didn't care for the Text Interface. It was too much trouble move files, and editing files for newer maps, mods, skins, textures ect.....

Here is a link to my local LUG (Linux User Group) or CLUG (Cleveland Linux User Group) and their Counter Strike Project.... You should be able to find something there.... If not do a search in Google "Linux Counter Strike".....

Cincron,

Here is what I am looking for.

A linux base server that will run a multi player games.

I do not know what is all available.

All that I know is that there is a how to to install counter
strike on SME 5.0 that is a multi player game server.
When I tryied to get all the files to install it I could not access the web sites to download them because the web site is no longer there or doesn't support it any more.

I did not see the link you suggested could you post it again.

Also could you tell me a little bit more about those games you sugggested.

Thanks

Sorry:

RedHat, Mandrake or SuSe would probably be your best bet in my opinion. When I played with Mandrake 8.1 I think during the install, it asked you if you wanted to make it a gameer or a game server... I am pretty sure, but not positive.

Yes, it works! I have been running a counterstrike server for about 8 months now, no problems.  Use the links from the above postings to get the files and the howto.

Why dont you just download the 'FULL SERVER INSTALL"  located here... http://server.counter-strike.net/servfiles.html

and see if there is a read-me in there.... then cross referance the read me from the Full Server Install, and the other SME Counter-Strike read-me...

There is one thing about LInux, (and I still need to learn this part).... most of the time you have to do and think for yourself....
