Hi e-smith.

I have with no success tried to give my users (ibays) access to chmod thier own files.

What can  a do ??

Yearh - The FTP Server includede with e-smith 5.1

In /etc/proftpd.conf change the line:

AllowChmod     false

to:

AllowChmod true


Note that this is templated, so I recommend either updating the master template itself, or, creating a custom template.  When you add new ibays this configuration will be overwritten.

Better still, don't do it. It decreases the security of the server. Home directories are provided for private files, i-bays are provided for shared files.

Sorry, I thought that he would like to change the ftp settings so that the users can use the ftp feature to make chmod with a ftp programm in an ibay.

Yes, that's what I thought as well. My advice remains - don't do that - use i-bays instead.
