Calculating ADSL line throughput

Is there any way to calculate how much data has passed (in/out) of an ADSL link over a period of time?

Our telco's idea of having ADSL is to limit the quantity of data for businesses to 2GB per month and they will charge for every extra MB used! (talk about monopoly!).

So what I need to know is how to calculate how much data has gone out/in the ADSL pipe and present me with a total each month, week, day.

You should take a look to Cacti : http://www.raxnet.net
And to the contrib for e-smith ;)

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually did have a look at your contribution but I might have missunderstood its purpose.

It seemed to me that Cacti would give you statistics on the line throughput (kbps) rather than the quantity of data that has passed through. Am I correct here?

What I need is a report that say from x date to y date you have transfered 300MB downloads and 20MB uploads or something like that.

Would Cacti do that? Or is there any other utility/contribution that would do that?
