Problem retreiving email
« on: June 05, 2002, 12:11:18 PM »
I'm not able to retreive email from my POP3 server on the Internet.
I'd like to retrive email from pop.mysite.com and sendig email through mail.mysite.com.
The server is connected to a router with a NIC and to a LAN with another NIC. The NIC to the router has 192.168.0.17 IP number and the other NIC has 192.168.0.10 IP number.

In "Other e-mail settings" I set "Internet provider's SMTP server" to mail.mysite.com. In outlook I set the POP3 and SMTP to mail.myserver (my server is the group name). Result: I can send email but I can't retrive.

Where is the mistake?

Thank you very very much!

Hi,

I think that you need to look under e-mail retrieval and select retrieval mode as 'multi-drop'. Set your secondary server for mail collection to pop.mysite.com.

Fill in the correct username and password for your pop mailbox and away you go.

Where you may then come unstuck is with sorting the mail - Stephen Noble has the excellent 'multipop' and there are load of posts in the forums on how to sort this out.
