editing dhcpd.conf and adding many static IP's

Hi,

My problem....I'd like to be able to add (import...or cut and paste) a bunch of hostnames and static IP's for a bunch of AirPort wireless base stations I have here at school. In my Freesco setup I simply use PuTTY and copy and paste into dhcpd.conf. How can I do this in E-Smith...I know I can use the hostnames panel, but I want something a little faster since I already have all the info in a text file that I can copy and paste. If I need to work with a template....which one and how?

start by looking in /etc/e-smith/templates/dhcp.conf

It gets the variables from the configuration file.

If you know what you want to alter then do it pick the template fragment and edit it.

Run /sbin/e-smith/expand-template / etc/dhcp.conf to make the new file

I think you have to then do a /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save as well, but a greater mind than mine ought to be able to help you.

You should really make a new fragment and tick it in the custom-templates directory rather than muck about with the originals. Personally I just backup the bit I want to alter first....

Have a read through the forums for more on altering templates - there is loads around.
