Topic: lilo append parameter and templates

I have to add an append parameter to my lilo.conf file and wanted to template it, but when I looked at the append section in the lilo.conf template it looked like the template actually is set up to read any append parameters from the /etc/lilo.conf file, is this correct? And does this mean I can add an append parameter to lilo.conf without having to template it?
