IRQ Problems and NIC
« on: June 14, 2002, 02:47:48 PM »
Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my server (it's a aplhaserver), after installing E-Smoith on the alphaserver, I can't access the server manager.
When I reboot the machnine there is a message listed on the screen that insmod has found IRQ or IO errors (this causes the driver not to load).
Is there a way to determine which IRQ's are free, and if so how can I load the driver module with these new settings.
When I run the command lsmod the driver is not listed, and manually adding the driver displays the same error as the shutdown screen.
The alphabios of this machine has the abilty to enable or disable the NIC and you can select the following modes (DHCP,STATIC or BOOTP) changes these settings doesn't change a thing.

Looking forward to your replies.

Kind regards,

Paul van Dun

Hi Paul,

Please contact me off-list to trouble-shoot this. It is probably an Alpha-specific problem. We use a different pcitable from x86 SME and a slightly different installation process, both of which may have something to do with your problem. Obviously you won't be able to access the server-manager (at least from the LAN) until the server is actually on the LAN.
