I am using the SME Server v.5.0. I want to know whether there is any firewall  is available/running by default. If firewall is available, what is it and how can I review and configure it in a easy way? Thx everybody can help!

If you're running it in server-gateway mode, there is a firewall running.  You can configure it through the console.

But how can I configure the firewall setting in the console such as the ruling, enabling and disabling the ports, etc.

I ve installed as instructed but is it a feature to enable/disable ports?! or dummies like me  don't know how to use it for the said objective

Is there something specific you're trying to do? It's a standard Linux firewall (ipchains?) that you can modify from the command line. However, the default rules and the Port Forwarding panel are usually enough for most people...

I have a similar query on this thread ... I want to enable port 1214 on v5.1.2 .... i know what I have to do but would appreciate the ipchains syntax to do so ... don't want to break what I've got.
