Hi Craig,
You can do it, but what a palaver.
I print to my N5 server, but don't bother with the file part as I thought it seemed like too much trouble.
If you use IP, I think that you need to have Unicon installed on the Novell box - this allows unix ~ novell / novell ~ unix printing and NFS file sharing - go read at Novell. Have a search at support.novell.com for info. I am not sure whether SME has a NFS client - you need to check.
Beware with Unicon - there is an issue with it when installing after having applied a Service Pack. I can't remeber excatly what the problem was, but I remember it was a real pain. You can't just install and reinstall the SP.
Depending on your file system (traditional volumes or nss),if your server handles IPX as well, you may be able to get by using something like ncpfs although I have never tried it on an e-smith server. This allows you to map/mount novell volumes onto the linux filesystem. I think it only works with tradtional volumes and not NSS.
You would have to compile it elsewhere and then install.
If I can be of any assistance then let me know.
B. Rgds
