send email to sme server fails
« on: July 25, 2002, 01:31:43 AM »
I have my sme 5.1.2 configured as email server.
Inside my Lan everything works fine, and sending mail to outside adresses also works fine.

When I send and email from outside my local network to my sme server it fails every time. My dsl provider configured the dns records for my domain and when I ping to mail.XXX.nl it comes back without errors and with the correct ip number.
When I send a mail using an chello account it bounces I get this message:

This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

Each of the following recipients was rejected by a remote mail server.
The reasons given by the server are included to help you determine why
each recipient was rejected.

    Recipient:
Reason:    ... Relaying Denied for 213.46.243.19

Please reply to Postmaster@chello.nl
if you feel this message to be in error.

The ip number is from chello, when I send a mail using an other provider the mail bounces with the ip number from the provider I'm using at that time.

Does anyone have a clue???

As it says Relay Denied, you might be using a proxy server or something else for your domain name.

The server you sent the e-mail to does not allow relaying to your server...

I'm not using a proxy server.......

All mail from outside coming in gets bounced back with the relaying denied error, dns/mx records are checked over and over again but are correct.

I've got the same problem here. My first domain works fine but the second is relaying nothing at all.

Your antivirus scanner is the problem I forced a new install of my scanner
and I just received my first e-mail on my second domain.
(rpm -i VexINS-AVMailGate-1.0-4.noarch.rpm --force)

Have fun, Renee

I have the same problem.  Are you sure it's the AV?

I had the same problem. It took me quite some time to find out that the virtual domain should be something like  xxx.nl ,  not mail.xxx.nl.
