Topic: Can't disable transparent proxy

Hello

I really hope someone can help me, what ever I try I can't seem to disable transparent proxying.

I do what the faq says but it still doesn't stop it. When my windows machine runs internet explorer it still connects to the net, with no proxy settings setup or anything.  This is really doing my head in..

I am running SME 5.5 also has same problem on 5.1.2.

What I really want is to disable all internet traffic from my clients on the network, except proxying through squid, ie the only way to get anything internet like to come from squid and no where else. No DNS exept local machine, NO  HTTP exept through squid and no FTP exept through squid, and reject everything else.

I hope this makes sense, and I hope someone can put me in the right direction.

Templates exist in /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/rc.d/init.d/masq

You should create the same directory in the templates-custom, directory, copy the files you want to change there modify them, expand the template, and then restart masq.

Expand masq template  (expand creates this file from the templates, you can view it to see the file generated by the templates)
/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/rc.d/init.d/masq

Restart masq
/etc/rc.d/init.d/masq restart

During testing you can just edit the masq file directly and then restart masq to see if your changes are producing the desired effect, and then go and get the custom-template configured properly.
