I have a major problem I switched from cable to dsl but the dsl modem is getting the ip address and not the server so my webserver can not be accessed through the modem.  How can I bypass this PLEASE some one has to be able to help me.

You will need to re-configure your server. One side of the DSL router will have your assigned ip address the other side i.e the ethernet side will have a local ip e.g in my case it is 192.168.1.1. You will need to reconfigure your external ethernet port eth1 on the server to be in the same subnet as the DSL router. Once again in my case 192.168.1.2.

I have that configured but how do I access the server from a remote location.  I am able to connect to the web but not able have users to connent to my server.remotely

Can they connect using your ip address http://x.x.x.x

You probably have to configure port forwarding on the DSL modem so that it forwards 80 (and whatever other ports you want) to your server.  I think most of the NAT Modems will do that.  Check your docs.

I did not get any documentation with the modem it came from msn and is is an arescom modem any help would be nice

You need to edit the NAT table in your router/modem to add you server.  If you have a modem only, you will need to add a router to your network.

They state they will not let you in the Modem/Router if it is provided by an ISP.
