Topic: SMTP relay on 5.5

Hi there
Not found anything in HOW-TO and the Forum (Except others with the same problem), just a check from me :
Has someone
1. found an answer yet?
2. Tried relay-ctrl from the some club who wrote mailfront?

Anyone having a clue what extra features the mailfront package has above the original Qmail-smtpd package ? I am trouble as I upgraded from 5.1.2 to 5.5 and now my users can't SMTP anymore.
I cant get anywhere with the about nihil docs on the bgware site and the new features will obviously not be explained in the Qmail docs as users on bgware site get refered too.

Hi Bill
Thanks for the reply....I saw this in one of the threads..... besides the fact that users have to change their clients/settings which may or may not be a problem, is that really going to help? Will the client who got authenticated then really be able to relay mail?

What about tcprules? I just found tcp.smtp on the server and I'm currently having a look at that too.
Could that also be an solution?

Paul, you'll want to use CVM SASL, trust me.  The only other alternative is Pop-Before-SMTP (http://www.stickit.nu/pop-before-smtp) and that isn't necessary on E-smith 5.5 because of SASL.

Ok, I'm convinced

I'll look into it and see if I can get that one going....

In the mean time I found excellent explanation on TCPRULES on Qmail for those reading this message and might be interested. (spamcontrol, etc)(Can be used under 5.5 as far as I can determined as tcp.smtp is all standard in 5.5)
