Its late and I have been searching the net for a while now.
I have SME 5.12 installed with the MP3 blade installed, and it got me to thinking "wouldn't it be great to play the MP3s on the server" as a windoze and DOS person I havn't got a clue where to start. is there a RPM or somthing that will add support for sound card to the server? I have set up a DOS based MP3 player on another machine that can access the Ibay accross a network, but this is a less than ideal solution.

While I am on I have started messing about with X10 control on my windows machine, again is the possible to control the CM11 from a web based interface on the SME box.

I know I am asking a lot of all of your skills, but someone must have attepmted somthing like this in the past!

TIA

Sean

Something along the lines of

http://misterhouse.sourceforge.net/
or perhaps
http://linuxha.sourceforge.net/

I have had it running on an SME box in the past.

well e-smith wasnt really designed to be used as a mp3 player... If you really wanted this then my in my humble opinon you have chosen the wrong tool...
You might be better off installing a redhat/suse/mandrake and using that to play your mp3.

E-Smith was designed to be a groupware/firewall/proxy server, and as such can be used without luxory items like a soundcard.

Being built on linux though it is possible to install a soundcard, have you looked at the linux howto's?? You could also install a tv card......look at the other howtos... I mean what the hell whats better than taking a firewall/proxy change it a little and make a state of the art multimedia pc out of it.......

To be perfectly honest, ive installed my e-smith and chucked it away in a disused corner....... I use mine "just" as a server.......
