I have tried EVERYTHING even a netstats list doesn't display them as open. Admittedly I am a Linux lamer and have little idea of what I am doing but I have scanned the posts for hints and can find nothing that makes the bugger work!!!!

You are scanning from the outside right? It will only forward from the external interface, not the internal one.

Hiya Bill

Yeah I scanned it from work and those ports are certainly not open or forwarding and I gotta say this is a hell of a grey hair generator just to open up port 8888 for webcam32 streaming!!! :)

Hmm, port forwarding was working for me. My server's net went down, and i decided to put more ram in aswell. I turn my server back on, and port forwarding isn't working...

Anyone got any ideas?

I recall reading in this forum about port forwarding problems on 5.5.  I use 5.1.2 & port forwarding without problem.  I suggest you set up a test 5.1.2 machine to see if the problem is with your server or something else.

good luck,

I've also noted problems, you can always use a separate binary called 'redir'.  A thread is located here:

http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=5233.msg18479#msg18479

An example syntax for port forwarding SMTP 25 to an alternate port can be found here:

http://www.e-smith.org/bboard//read.php?f=1&i=18304&t=18236

Also, to find specific port numbers for third party programs, I recommend:

Hope this helped,
