Hi,
I have set up the e-smith server and attached my dial up modem and tested internet
access on the e-smith control console. I've set the dial up modem to connect to the internet as soon as the server is turned on. The modem connects to the internet and stays connected for a long period of time (I'm not kicked off at all )through the server . I have a laptop with redhat 7 using netscape 6
connected to the server. I can access the e-smith manager from it and samba on the laptop works fine . The pcmcia network card is working fine.
Every thing looks ok and fantastic but I can not connect to the web
with the lap top through the e-smith server's dial up connection.
my ISP is running through a proxy on port 8000.
I'm sure there are a few config settings I need to set.
what could I be doing wrong? The e-smith software appears to be a
fantastic piece of software but this barrier is really getting up my
nose....please don't let me look at NT, as I am willing to spend the time to
learn and fix this problem but I am stumped as to where to start.
HELP !
By the way internet access throughout the linux laptop works fine on its
own,through the pcmcia modem.
I would really love to see the the web through the network .
thanks in advance
