Topic: 4.1.1 install problem

Installation of my server goes well until i get the question to configure the server.  I confige the server and gateway so (with 2 NIC's) and then the screen "standby while your configuration settings are activated" appears. After 1-2 minutes an other screen gives:
                    [ok]
starting crod: [ok]
hdpar: _
and now my system doesn't react anymore.

After reboot error with file system and reinstallation gives the same eroor. i've even tried a new disk, but the same loop.

I hope somebody can help me

maybe there is a disk setting problem as the hard disk may be old or a strange type, so hdparm cannot figure out the best optimizations.

why dont you try to reinstall and exclude the hard disk optimizations, when asked in the last stage durning the first setup with admin.

Install again, but do not enable hard drive optimisation. Choose "maximum safety".

If your system now works fine (I suspect it will, since your system seems to be locking up when hard drive performance is tweaked), send a description of your hardware to bugs@e-smith.com so that we can add it to the knowledge base that we are accumulating.
