Topic: Setup SME on a Intel 845G MainBoard with i82562 LAN functio

I am trying to setup the SME 5.5 server on a Asus P4B533 series MainBoard, this main board has a build-in LAN function which claims that it has a Intel 82562ET LAN function build in (Inside the ICH4 it using).

From the Information in the Intel Site, it said it did support the "e100" driver come with SME, But it is no the case ........

Every call to the LAN card (I set it up as the "Internal" one) will cause the system to halt and automatic reboot...... no matther how I setup the system, the server will just crush .......

The only way to make the server work, is to plug in another card (I use the 3Com 3c920) and set it up as server only mode. and just ignore the On board LAN......

Can any experianced user here give me a hint to setup the system correctly ??   I guess the e100 driver did call to the LAN function calls but just some setting cause trouble......

Given how inexpensive network cards are these days, the time you spent posting your question probably cost you more than the 3Com.  Disable the onboard hardware in the BIOS and carry on!

and Michael, I know you are right, but as I am using a 1U server case, all the PCI slot I have is just 1 only, I do need the onboard LAN to work..... poor me..... who had make a worng decision on this item.......

Thanks !!  The new  e100-2.1.15 driver fix all the problem, and now the system work fine !!

I guess the e-smith people had to update the e100 driver in the next version, as so many PC will work on the new Intel 845G chip set.
