install 5.5 with Adaptec 2100S SCSI RAID
« on: November 26, 2002, 06:14:51 AM »
Im trying to get this card to work
(its supported in RH7.3, so 5.6 will solve everything -
aint it often the way! but ive no idea on that timeframe
or the 'stability' of the beta)

anyway, ive got the required driver dd'd onto a floppy
and ive been told 'at the boot: prompt enter dd'
BUT it goes by too quick, i cant pause it!

im loading off a CD on a Celeron 700

how do i get past this?
(hey if im on the wrong track, pls point me right)

regards in advance
Rob

ps great phorum - ive learnt a lot from it

im progressing but still not quite there!

i cannot interupt the CD boot, so
(thanks to a fellow aussie's advice)

made a boot floppy from the CD boot.img,
edited the syslinux.cfg to show

default accept
prompt 1
timeout 600
display boot.msg
F1 boot.msg
LABEL accept
  KERNEL vmlinuz
  APPEND ks=cdrom:images/kickstart/ks_stub.cfg initrd=initrd.img local

Then I boot, and at the boot prompt type "accept dd".

It now reads the driver diskette (dtp_i2o which is correct),
but still doesnt find the scsi drive!

after the driver diskette, cd reads, driver finishes reading,
lang-select, kybd, accept and
WHAMMO - nodrive found

what else do I need to do?

hoping for help
Rob
