Dynamic DNS with EZ-IPUpdate and Virtual Domains
« on: November 29, 2002, 12:07:36 AM »
Hi,
Like all things in this forum, this has already been answered, but I have searched for an hour, and not yielded the answer.
I can not figure out how to use ez-ipupdate (with dyndns) to update my virtual domains.
Do I need to run two instances, do I modify a conf file?
Even at the web site it is not explained.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I was able to set it up using dyndns.org for their free dynamic dns services.
Never tried it with my own TLD.

If you want to have something like: danshome.dyndns.org I can help you out.
I've kept instructions for it. Unfortunatly I'm not at home until Monday .

Lemme know if you want me to give you the instructions and I will.

Hi,
I have my domain www.xxx.com working fine, and the IP gets updated in the hosts records at easydns.
My virtual domain never gets updated, and never works, because the ezipupdate has nothing in their for the virtual domain (in the conf file) So, it always shows up as PENDING at easydns,
I have talked to them, and they can not help me with it, however the tech fellow said I need to run an "instance" for each domain.
So, I believe I somehow need to have the infor for the virtual domain either aooended to the /etc/easdns.conf (via template) or a seperate instance of it.
My machine works well, and I do not want to experiment on this, thats why I would like assistance from someone who does / has done it.
Thanks,
Dan
