NEED HELP!!!
« on: December 09, 2002, 03:07:13 AM »
Ok I am a newbie to sme and linux in general. I have done a few installs of red hat before yet it seems this version of sme (5.5) does not like the nic card I have. I know it is cheap don't laugh I am building it as a project from parts to learn a little. Anyways it is a CNet 650pro + card and I have done some research it requires i use the module ne.o as in ne2000 compatible. The problem i am seeing is that the only ne2000 support in sme 5.5 is for pci based cards. I have tried to find the kernel source to make the dependencies and build the module but it seems it doesn't install with the disc I downloaded. So if someone can help me out to get this puppy up and running I would greatly appreciate it.

And when you're asking for help from these forums, have a little bit of consideration for the people you're asking to help you out.
"NEED HELP" could mean that you're having trouble with putting your pants on.
"Isa Nic help" would have been a much more appropriate title for your post.
You also have one area that deals with problems with e-smith.
You could have tried reading ALL the resources available to you, before asking questions. If you want to learn, fine. But learn what is available to you first. You'll find answers to problems that you currently don't have.
Real men may not read the instructions. They tend to ask Guru's that do.

Perhaps. But it contained useful advice. People who "NEED HELP" should pay for it. People who want help,  should be considerate of those they are asking help from.
