Updated packages
« on: December 16, 2002, 06:29:00 AM »
I have finished compiling the following packages all of them have been
tested and work with v5.x (all version 5's).  They are available on my site
http://lordsfam.net/downloads or on my contrib area (within 24 hours).

mailman-2.1b6, mhonarc-2.5.13, htdig-3.1.6, e-smith-mailman-1.0 - Updates to
the latest beta build of mailman and mhonarc.  Fixes a few bugs some of them
security related.

e-smith-sysmon-3.1 - Updated for SME v5.6.  Support for raid-1 devices for
drive usage. Other misc fixes.  Superceeds eneo-sysmon.

e-smith-arkeia-1.1 - Integrates arkeia free v4.2 with SME.  Changes the
integrated backup to use arkeia instead of flexbackup.

I forgot to mention that I also have finished a directory indexer
(dirindexer-1.0).  It is a simple to use script that is written in php.  It
is the indexer that is being used on my site.

Shad
I just installed dirindexer on a sme v5.5U2 server and it works fine. I had been drooling at the nice indexer on your site, and now you have given it to us.
I like the ability to put a description against each file.

As you know I am also using your Arkeia contribution which is running nicely also.

Thanks

All I can say is WoW. Installed PhpMyadmin and the PhpSysinfo and am very very impressed.  Now I can't seem to get to the page anymore.  When I can get back in I'll take another look around.

Site Sucking

Just a warning to those that try to suck my site.

I have a script that looks at how fast you are crawling my site.  If it looks like you are a bot crawling my site it will ban you for 30 minutes.

If this has happened to you by mistake then just wait 30 minutes and try again.

Have installed Shad's rpm, arkeia 4.2 rpms  and also the 4.2 java client interface for my w2k box.

A full backup works (ie starts and runs out of space) as my 20GB tapes are too small to store a full system initial/Total backup (45GB uncompressed) and it does not seem to span multiple tapes (ie did not ask for additional tape at end of backup tape 1).  One ibay (20GB) is rarely updated so I would like to make a Total backup to a separate tape initially but include in an incremental backup.

I would like to select which ibays to backup (Total backup per Arkeia speak).  I have set up a savepack using the java client to only include a selection of ibays but it will not backup so assume that the backup configuration is read from SME? and SME settings override the java client.

Can I configure a conf file on SME to exclude certain ibays under arkeia for a Total backup and include all ibays for incremental backup?  If so how?

Does anything change re backup facility/configuration under 5.6 to make it more straightforward (subject term - I know) !?  Unfortunately, I have not had a spare box to install the beta version on.  Is the latest beta and updates = to the forthcoming GPL release so that I can upgrade my server and spend less time trying to configure the backups?

Hope this all makes sense.

Happy "holidays" to all.

Hey Shad - got your Mailman RPM at the beginning of the month and everything is hunky-dory. I needed to install Mhonarc (which I also pulled from your distro) since I have a list that comes thru 99% using HTML. I also pulled the htdig. I installed the RPMs without any problems but just need to know what to do to tell Mailman to use MHonarc instead of Pipermail.

Any points in the right direction would be GREAT! :)

Thanks!

BTW,

Wouldn't you do a contrib of that script ?

Sorry the answer is a bit late, but if you use Shads Arkeia contrib on sme, then the way to exclude folders from the tape backup is to put a file called
.OPB_NOBACKUP
in each folder you want excluded. Note that all subfolders will also be excluded.

Make sure you put a dot at the beginning and also capitalise the letters.
The exclusions will be shown in the backup report.

If you install Shads contrib then this overrides or circumvents the Arkeia java way of backing up (as I understand it)
