How can I use extra serial ports
« on: January 15, 2003, 09:33:18 AM »
Hi all and please excuse this being such a pointy question.

I have a specialix io-8 card which supports 8 serial ports and a Stallion 4 port Easyio card. Both are detected by the system and have devices associated with them in the /dev directory.

I noticed that the SME server could allow dialin via the 2 standard comm ports
ttyS0 or TTYS1 , Can other ports be defined for use and management via the server-manager interface or is it a sad fact that SME can only do the basic 2 ports.

I fully realise that the SME server is not meant to be a terminal server , However we should try to push the boundaries occasionally , Right ??

As usual any help is much appreciated.

Regards,
Gav

Hi,

Not that I have any clue about your question, but...

Maybe you could examine the template fragments to see if there are any modifications possible..

Just a thought.

Thanks HF,

Happy new year to you.  I thought there may be a db configuration option would do it, I will take your suggestion and run with it.
