5.6 Download
«

I downloaded the new version of e-smith 5.6. The ftp sites said it was about 377meg and when the download is completed the the iso file is about 277meg.
When I try to burn the image with Nero I get an message saying.. "the entered block size does not correspond to the image length. The block size may be wrong. Do you want to correct the value or ignore the problem?" When I click correct the block size (bytes) is 2048.
I downloaded this file twice from two different ftp sites. One of the site was e-smith's.
Am I doing something wrong?
Please help,
Jehu.

Thanks much,

I would try using a download manager to get the ISO. If you are using a download manager, try a different one.
The ISO is 377MB

Make sure it downloads in Binary mode. Every time I FTP using the XP command line it defaults to ASCII so I get corrupted images and such.

Best is to download the md5sum file to the same directory on your (linux) machine that the .iso is in, and then do
# md5sum -c

I had this - download "finished" at 288215040 bytes. This was using Mozilla in FTP mode under W2K. Fired up my trusty WS FTP pro & told it to restart the download. md5sum checks out OK.
I wonder if there's a particular combination of bytes which confuse browsers into thinking they've reached the EOF. Is that even possible?
