How to do the SME Fax Blade?
« on: January 17, 2003, 07:49:26 PM »
Hi Folks,

I was just reading how the SME Fax/Gateway Blade works and I like it!  No client software. Create your PS or PDF file and e-mail it to the Fax Server.

This is nice because it combines the two things that the staff are already well versed on 1.) creating PDF's (Ghostscript of course) 2.) Sending e-mails.  So combining them together and be able to send a fax is great.

Does anyone have a HOWTO on how to do this?

I already have a fax server up and running using the WHFC client but I still prefer the non-client approach. I've already posted a few threads on this subject and have searched but no info on this approach other then the possible use of the SMBFAX approach.

Thanks as always,

Craig

Mitel makes the Fax blade and all of their other blades avaialble only to their paying customers.

If you are interested, connect with a Mitel partner and discuss the ServiceLink product as a for-pay service.

As an addition.  Does anyone have a ball park idea of what this Blade would cost?

Thanks,

Johan

I am using Hylafax on SME combined with the Relayfax client. The install is very very simple, and it has worked flawlessly for quite some time.

I can fax anything that you can print, from anywhere on the internet through my server. I receive all faxes as emailed attached PDF files to either one person (user faxmaster) or to a group (group faxmaster).

I can send a fax to one person, or multiple persons....

It is actually quite slick, and so far error free. I use a Courier V Everything Class 2.0.

The whole install takes about 15 minutes and I have done it dozen's of times and i386 and Alpha CPU based systems, on 5.12, 5.5 and 5.6.

Thanks Guys,

Johan - I've checked the board already but no luck.

Chaloner - I got the instructions to install Hylafax from your website.  Thanks by the way.  :-)  ha ha

Shaukat -  This is the website your looking for.  I can vouch for it because I used it.   http://www.chaloner.ca/index.php?page=1

Maybe I'm being a little pig headed but I still like the idea of not having to install any client software.  :-)

I'll keep looking and post any findings.

Craig
