Topic: Email sender address on dial-up

I hope I am not posting a messge that has been solved previously, but I am uncertain what to search for.

I have a server setup with windows boxes on the LAN using outlook express as an IMAP client. At this stage I do not wish to implement internal mail, but require outgoing and incoming mail from the internet.

I am using an internal (non valid) domain for the LAN and have setup a user account to handle the mail (provides IMAP login).

The problem is this.... How do I allow the mail be injected into Qmail through IMAP, but have the senders address appear as sent through the ISP.

ie .. senders address of mailuser@internal.net (internal mail address) accepted by IMAP and when sent by Qmail appears as validuser@ISP.com.au (ISP mail address).

Any help, appreciated.

Cannt you just set that in the reply to setting in outlook express?

Tools > Accounts > Properties > Email address
                                                Reply address

But if the person has a look at the source of the email it'll still show the internal mail address, but how many users read the sources?

Thats what I ended up doing and it seems to work well. I was under the (false) impression that the internal e-mail server would reject the senders address. I have a problem with the IMAP configuration as I cannot view the sent-messages folder, but I will post a new topic on this.
