kernel sources

Help! I need to recompile my kernel on a 5.5 to install a hsf pci modem card and, although i downloaded every bit of software suggested here, when I try to install the rpm of the kernel sources, I get multiple errors (this version of kernel conflicts with another supposed existing version, etc..) and I cannot install it, therefore cannot recompile nor install my card...

Heeeeeeeelp!, I'm stuck for 2 days and getting raving mad at it... ;-)

You're probably trying to install kernel.blah.src.rpm when what you really need is kernel-source.blah.rpm This seems like a rather hard way of going about things, why don't you throw the pci card in the bin and grab a decent external modem. The 2 days you've already wasted (not too mention the wasted days to come) will more than pay for the difference between the two. Just my 2 bobs worth.

Well in fact I'm trying to install the file : kernel-source-2.2.19-7.0.8.i386.rpm
I'd love to use an external modem but  in this case the use of an internal one is mandatory for me.
Does anyone know which rpm do I have to install and where I can find it, in order to create my hsf driver ?
tnx in advance.

Then we'd suggest you get an internal hardware modem. That should work without any additional software support.

Does this still exist ??? In the past I was used to use internal modems with ttyS ports, but all the cards I find nowadays are software driven...
I tried 2 cards, one olitec, one peabird, and both are supplied with hsf drivers for linux... I suppose that if the drivers are released, these cards are supposed to work with linux, huh ? All I need is the correct kernel rpm to generate the driver...;-)
