Seagate Hard Drive Incompatibility ?
« on: January 25, 2003, 11:47:18 PM »
My test server was running SME 5.5 with no problems. It has a P5Tx-Bpro motherboard, Intel Pentium 200MMX, 128mb RAM & Seagate Barracuda ATA II 30.6gb hard drive. Upgrades to SME 5.6 with no problems, however if I choose to do a fresh install of SME 5.6, it errors with a mention of "sun-ufs file system does not support loop back labels". Options include initializing hard drive, but nothing allows the install to continue. I have tried setting the drive in BIOS as LBA, LRG, Auto & Normal, but same error each time.

Out of curiosity, I installed a Quantum 2.5gb drive, and SME 5.6 loaded first go, with no problems. Quantum was specified in BIOS as normal mode.

Any suggestions why I can't do a fresh install on the Seagate Barracuda ?

Hi,
I get the "sun-ufs file system code doesn't support loop disk labels"
also. Trying to upgrade from sme5.5 on a Quantum scsi drive.
5.5 works ok, but 5.6 keeps coming up with the above error.
Anybody have answers?
Thanks
