Topic: 3C509B not in 4.1.2??

I'm trying to install e-smith 4.1.2, but am having problems with my 3COM ISA 3C509B-combo NICs. The only 3COM NICs available in the list on the setup screen are 3C59X and 3C90X. Since the 3C509 is supposed to be supported (according to the manual), how do I install the drivers through the setup program?? The cards worked fine on my LRP box (Linux Router Project). I don't want to waste two 100 MBit cards on the gateway, since I only have a 10 MBit connection.

I've searched the forum but didn't find anything about this.

First, choose someone NIC from existing list (doesn't matter which one).
Than, continue installation until it completes.
After system reboot, press Alt-F2 and login as root.
Execute command:

/sbin/e-smith/config set EthernetDriver1 3C509

if you have second NIC, than enter:

/sbin/e-smith/config set EthernetDriver2 3C509


Finally, go back to e-smith main screen with Alt-F1 and choose the secind option from the menu "Configure this server and gateway". At this point e-smith will offer your NICs as default, simply confirm them.

Excuse me, you must enter 3c509, not 3C509

Hello Kamelia! Thank you for the quick reply. Now my problem is that when I hit alt-F2 and log in as admin, the main screen comes up... So I never see the command line. I thought this had something to do with the "login to use setup" option, so I changed it to autologin (I'm sure you know what I mean), but it didn't help. Any ideas??
