Hi,

I posted this a week ago with no reply. I have to go in and sort it out this weekend, but don't really know where to start short of a total re-install.....

I'm sure there is a simple fix with a little bit of knowledge. Any help or advice gratefully appreciated.

Rather than rely on a "simple fix" I think I'd boot the system, pull off all user data and do that total re-install with fresh drives.  I think you'll be happier in the long run.  Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but since "simple fixes" haven't been forthcoming, well, sometimes the hard way is the only way.

Many thanks for your reply Michael.

Bizarrely enough, I did the followinig :

Removed the old drive and installed the new one.

Ghosted hdc to hda (damn handy that Ghost prog.....) on the basis that I would have everything backed to an identical drive before I started to get my hands dirty.

Rebooted, and to my surprise, off it went. It immediately started to resynch the first two partitions by itself, but dumped the data partition so I manually did a raidhotadd.

Good as new. BUT the only thing is I haven't as yet tried to reboot with one or other of the drives out to test it. I will have a look this weekend.

I still haven't figure out exactly how it boots with a raid system - I have read some stuff but it was late and I was tired - so I haven't sussed the full boot procedure to figure out where it goes wrong. If I can find out I'll post back.
