Using SME to deliver mail to different port
« on: February 02, 2003, 03:19:15 PM »
Hi !

I am a real newbie on this so please bear with me.
I am using an ISP that blocks port 25. I am not running SME.

I do however have a friend that uses SME and he has port 25 open on a different domain. (He uses a different ISP)

Would it be possible to use MX pointers for my domain to point to my friends SME server, and SME could then try to deliver my mail to my PC on another port say 2525 ?

I dont want my friend to have to deal with user accounts etc for my domain.

Can this be done ?
Anyone willing to give a short (?) newbie how-to ?

Brg

Take a look at http://www.no-ip.com, they provide a service to redirect to a different port if 25 is blocked.  It costs a small amount, but is likely to be far more reliable than your friends setup.
