The template system should "get in the way" much. The most that you need to do is to create /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/blah instead of /etc/blah, then run the command "/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/blah". Now that wasn't too difficult, was it?

That isn't correct. e-smith and redhat put their files in the same places - nearly all the files in an e-smith system come straight out of RedHat built RPMs.
